Stewart pleased as Rivoli hold 'iconic' Boys' Town

George Vernal scored Boys' Town's equaliser to cancel a Rivoli goal netted by Fidel Anderson (standing in the background).
Rivoli United's technical director, Bradley Stewart, said the iconic status of premier league contenders Boys' Town made him feel proud after his team earned a one-all draw in their Digicel Premier League match at Spanish Town Prison Oval.
"With the iconic status of our opponents, who have been around for a long time, then it pleased me tremendously to draw with them today. A good game was contested here today," noted Stewart at the end of the contest on Sunday.
The less-fancied Rivoli outplayed the seasoned campaigners in the early exchanges with Valentine Gardener, Ricardo Knight, Devon Hodges and Divine Chibuike making inroads into the Boys' Town half.
However, a combination of sound defending and faulty finishing did not change the goalless start before half-time.
Dominance
Rivoli resumed their dominance after the interval and it was reflected in the 47th minute when midfielder Fidel Anderson dismissed a defender and scored, making it 1-0.
The Boys' Town aggregation responded well with Fabian Watkins, Peter Keyes, Damion Benjamin and George Vernal stringing a number of passes together and Vernal eventually scored in the 57th minute.
After receiving a pass in the 18-yard box, he volleyed the ball into the back of the Rivoli net, setting off celebrations among the Boys' Town supporters.
Both teams battled gallantly to put their nose in front, but there was be no change in the scoreline.
Andrew Price, Boys' Town's technical director, was not pleased with the result.
"For once in my coaching career I am not pleased with a point on the road. We should have won the game. There were too many missed opportunities and we must score to catch the leaders.''
The result moved Rivoli to 28 points, while third-place Boys' Town moved to 47, seven adrift joint leaders Portmore United and Harbour View.
