Tropical Wave East of Jamaica - Heavy Rains Possible This Weekend

An area of low pressure east of Jamaica, with an embedded tropical wave, drifts slowly toward the island.

A broad trough remains across Jamaica and the central Caribbean. A tropical wave is east of Jamaica, near Hispaniola, and moves into the Jamaica area late tomorrow. The broad trough continues to present unstable weather conditions over the central and western Caribbean.

Induced by Hurricane Humberto, this trough is likely to remain over the area until Humberto moves further eastward on the weekend. The Tropical Wave is also expected to bring unstable weather and very deep convection this weekend.

Tomorrow Afternoon: Widespread showers and thunderstorms across the island. Heaviest activity is likely over southern and northwestern parishes.

Minimum temperature expected for Montego Bay tonight: 25 degrees Celsius.

Sunday: Cloudy morning with isolated showers over northern parishes. Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms likely over the island.
