A tropical wave should drift further west during today, while a high pressure ridge is projected to build across Jamaica by this evening. The ridge is then expected to remain across the island for the next few days. Additionally, a low-level jet stream is expected to move into the vicinity of Jamaica, bringing windy conditions to mainly southern parishes beginning on Sunday.
The Met Service of Jamaica is also keeping an eyes on Tropical Depression Number 5 that formed this morning over the tropical Atlantic Ocean, over 1300 kilometres east of Barbados. It is likely to enter the Caribbean by the middle of next week but is not a threat to Jamaica at this time.
