Dangerous police practice
The Editor, Sir: Something needs to be done about the practice of letting traffic out of the premises of the commissioner of police's office on Old Hope Road. The standard practice is for the policeman on gate duty to step suddenly out into traffic without warning, without safety vest, etc, and force the unsuspecting motorists to stop suddenly, or risk running him/her over. Make tax compliance certificate mandatory
The Editor, Sir: This is indeed a harsh tax bill for the majority of Jamaicans. We understand perfectly well the reasons why we have to increase revenues, but this bill will hurt many of us and will also contribute to an even more shrinking economy, as less spending will to hurt the country even more.
