Bail applications were made Friday for a man and his girlfriend who are accused of the murder of 58-year-old East Kingston businessman Ruel Isaacs.

Supreme Court Judge Martin Gayle will decide on Wednesday if they will be granted bail.

Defence lawyers Lancelot Clarke and Peter Champagnie applied for bail for the accused 21-year-old Jammel Holgate and his girlfriend 21-year-old Farida McDonald, both of Kingston addresses. The applications were made in the Home Circuit Court.

Robbed and shot

It is being alleged that McDonald, who worked in front of the deceased's bar and garage establishment on Victoria Street, lured him to Tredegar Park in St Catherine around 9 p.m. on August 4, 2007. Holgate and another man allegedly robbed him of his licensed firearm and an undetermined sum of money before shooting him in the head.

The police were summoned by residents and Isaacs was found slumped in his car with gunshot wounds to the head.

Shortly thereafter, Holgate was featured on the police's most-wanted list and a $1-million bounty placed on his head.

Holgate, accompanied by a justice of the peace, turned himself over to the police in 2008. McDonald was subsequently held in Harbour View, St Andrew.
