Ammo find

The Constabulary Communi-cation Network (CCN) is reporting a big ammunition find on a bus sometime yesterday. A release from the CCN said that the police-military task force seized some 299 assorted rounds of ammunition on a Coaster bus which plies the Montego Bay to Kingston route. The bus was stopped on the Mandela Highway where security personnel had mounted a vehicle checkpoint.

Three persons, according to the release, have been arrested in connection with the find. They are yet to be charged as investigations are continuing.

Murder in St Catherine

An elderly St Catherine couple - Vincent Brown, 65, and his 64-year-old wife, Lena, of Spring Garden Village in Old Harbour - were brutally slain at their home on Friday.

Reports from the Old Harbour police are that about 8:30 p.m. Brown drove to his home when armed men pounced on him and demanded the keys to his vehicle.

An argument ensued. Brown's wife went out to investigate and was shot by the criminals. She died on the spot. Her husband, who was also shot, died later in hospital.

The attackers escaped in the couple's Nissan motor car.

Detective Sergeant Carey Duncan of the Old Harbour police said that investigations revealed that robbery was the motive for the murders.
