St Mary Peace Farm and Park, in its effort to celebrate old-fashioned values and offer an alternative to the usual party scene, will host a Christmas Jamboree on December 12.

The farm, an eco-tourist attraction and community park, located in Oracabessa, St Mary, is ideal for barbecues, picnics, concerts, history and environmental tours and school and church field trips.

The jamboree, co-sponsored by Simmonds Hardware of Ocho Rios and Marksman, promises to be good, clean fun for the whole family, beginning at 11 a.m. There will be rides, games and jerk food available for sale.

In the spirit of Christmas, half of the proceeds will go towards the launch of the Green Team Project - an extracurricular programme for local schools in which students come to the park to learn environmental science and conflict resolution in an informative, fun way.

Also on December 12, the Peace Quilt will be launched as a part of a countdown to the upcoming Rally for Peace concert on Peace Day, March 6, 2010 (an event co-sponsored by McKenzie Hope and the Friends Educational Council).

St Mary Peace Farm is located at the top of Corn Hill Road in Jack's River, Oracabessa (only 15 minutes from Ocho Rios).
