Guyana cops face other torture allegations

Guyana (AP):
Two police officers in Guyana accused of setting a teenage murder suspect on fire now face charges of beating three other suspects. The officers are scheduled to appear in court December 15 to respond to charges they severely beat two suspected thieves.
The policemen were arraigned late Monday but were not required to enter a plea. They also are accused of beating a murder suspect and burning his tongue with a cigarette. The officers also are awaiting trial on charges that they doused the genitals of a 14-year-old suspect with alcohol and set them on fire last month. The teen had been detained in connection with the killing of a former government official.
