Finsac enquiry delayed again

Published: Friday | November 13, 2009

When the Finsac Commission of Enquiry was adjourned yesterday at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, the participants and audience did not know when the next hearing would be held.

Justice Boyd Carey, commissioner, told the gathering that a date for the resumption of the hearing would be announced when they had reviewed submissions by Dr Omar Davies, former minister of finance, and Patrick Hylton, former managing director of Finsac.

Davies was scheduled to appear next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Hylton is scheduled to appear on December 1 and 2.

Carey, however, told the audience that the next hearing would definitely be this month.

Fernando DePeralto, secretary of the commission, told The Gleaner that the submissions from the two are expected to be received on the 20th of this month.

The commission, which started on November 10, has already experienced some delays, with Wednesdays' sitting shortened because of a meeting that members of the BOJ had with the Cabinet and a week earlier when there was no testimony.
