Campion, Immaculate dominate net exchanges

Defending champions Campion College's boys' team and Immaculate Conception will highlight the final set of matches of the preliminary round of the Lime High Schools Tennis Championship, which will be played this Friday.

In the main matches of the eastern zone of the boys championship, runaway leaders Campion, on 12 points, will face lowly-placed Ardenne, on three points, at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre, Jamaica College (6) will travel to Hillel Academy (6), and Wolmer's Boys (6) will entertain Kingston College (0).

In the female section, two-time defending champions Immaculate Conception, with maximum 12 points, will go toe-to-toe with second-place and last year's beaten finalists Wolmer's Girls (9) at the Eric Bell Centre at 9 a.m., while also at the same venue and time, Ardenne High's girls (3) will do battle with Holy Childhood.

Hillel Girls (3) and Campion College (0) will do battle in the zone's other match-up.

Elsewhere, in the the western zone, Montego Bay High with maximum six points lead the standings ahead of Ocho Rios (3) and Team Work (0) in the girls' category, while in the boys' division Cornwall College lead the tables with maximum 12 points. They are followed by Irwin (6), Ocho Rios (3), Heinz Simonitcsch (3) and Team Work (0).

The final zone matches will be played between Team Work and Irwin.

The top four teams in each group will advance to the national finals, which will be played between November 19-21.

Meanwhile, last Friday saw a number of scintillating matches across all zones with Campion registering the biggest victory in the eastern boys category at the Eric Bell Centre.

Singles wins

The Liguanea-based school, led by Ramone Doyley, Andrew Bicknell, Ceran Messam, and Kristov Gayle, slammed Kingston College 7-0 while JC, behind singles wins from Jovaughn Mullings, Kristov Walker (JC) and Jason Mitchell, got the better of Ardenne 5-2.

In the girls' equivalent, Michaelann Denton, Sonam Khemlani, Serena Harjani and Megan Veira defeated the Kharis Howard-conditioned Immaculate High to a 6-1 win over Holy Childhood, while Wolmer's Girls stopped Hillel Girls 5-2 at home. Phadria Kepple, Sarah Orrett, Analisse Moseley, Kalisse Kelly with key singles victories led the way for the Wolmer's girls.
