World sprint king Usain Bolt will not resume training until later this month, so says the athlete's coach, Glen Mills.

Earlier this year, Mills was quoted as saying, "Bolt will resume training when he returns from Kenya in the first week of November," but that date has now been pushed back.

On Friday, Mills confirmed "Bolt will resume training later this month."

The sprinter, who first stunned the track and field world with world record runs of 9.69 and 19.30 to capture the Olympics sprint double, returned to shatter those marks by running 9.58 and 19.19 to take the World Championships title. This has led to the 23-year-old being very much in demand and only returned to the island from Kenya on Wednesday, where he attended the launch of an environmental charity campaign.

various engagements

However, he will not start training as estimated because of various engagements both on and off the island, which include the IAAF Gala trip on November 22, Bolt's publicist Carole Beckford told The Gleaner yesterday.

Bolt, she said, may do some light stuff, but nothing serious will get under way until after Monaco, where he is expected to walk away with his second straight IAAF Male Athlete of the Year title.

Similar to last year after the Olympics, Bolt has again found the going busy, as he has had to fulfil sponsorship agreements, among many other things.
