Beer, sausage, sauerkraut and great music? Sounds like Oktoberfest, doesn't it?

You would be at the head of the class if that were your answer as the Jamaican German Society hosted its annual Oktoberfest party at Hotel Four Seasons on Friday, October 30.

Sparkles Disco kept the early groovers busy with some sultry Latin numbers while most guests took down the fare (the knackwurst going down very well indeed). Those who were into a gaming mood could saunter over to the games area and try their hands (or wrists) at darts, or just sit and lyme 'til the vibe increased.

But in terms of the libation, it was all about the beer. Whether the German stuff or the local brew (Kingston Beer representing), there was enough to quench the thirst. And for those who started guzzling down the good stuff early, that proved a warm-up for the beer-drinking contest. The contents of bottle after bottle disappeared rapidly and the crowd couldn't get enough. The dance contest had fewer participants so the real 'leg-droppers' stood out.

Pretty soon the music and the dancing got to fever pitch as old favourites like Oh What A Night and Rock The Boat really got the party grooving. And to top it off, entertainer Len Hammond stopped by to croon a few songs especially for the women.

Guests out included Eric Frater, Richard and Diana Stewart and her mom Jojo Paige, Peter Kolbusch, Ariana and Iain McFayden, David Nickerson and Anton Burke.

Daniela and Mike Bauer sport interesting outfits.

Nas Chin really has no competition in the dance contest as she 'gully creeps' her way to first prize.

Not to be outdone, the women showing they can take the beer down even faster than their macho counterparts.

Down the hatch! These gents guzzle down some beer during the ever-popular beer-drinking contest.
