Pulse supermodel and 2009's fashion luminary Jeneil Williams chalked up another stellar accomplishment when she was given runway honours at the annual Oi Fashion Rocks extravaganza, held last weekend in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Broadcast in more than 120 countries, the event also welcomed an array of celebrities and musical guests including Mariah Carey, P. Diddy, British songbird Estelle, Grace Jones, Ciara and rapper Ja Rule.
Oi Fashion Rocks assembles prominent musicians as well as the fashion industry's top designers and leading models for a two-night fundraiser in aid of global charities.
Williams, who has rapidly asserted herself as an international fashion force, was the only black model featured on the show, which also included the likes of Brazilian model Izabel Goulart and Victoria's Secret Alessandra Ambrosia.
After a superlative season on the international fashion circuit (New York, London, Paris) clocking high fashion mileage for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Nicole Miller, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Rosa Cha, Paul Smith, Twenty 8 Twelve, Top Shop, among many others, Williams had a moment's rest before accepting duties at the charity affair in Rio de Janeiro. The event, which was staged in Latin America for the first time during its five-year run, featured major design houses Calvin Klein, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, as well as Brazilian designers Alexandre Herchcovitch, Lenny, André Lima and Lino Villaventura. Williams was quickly drafted by Marc Jacobs and Herchcovitch to present their collections.
memorable moments
Suited in a whisper pink sheer leotard, pink thigh-high stockings and camel oxfords, Herchecovitch sent the stunning Williams down the catwalk attuned to the melodies of Brazilian songbird Geanine Marques.
"I was very excited to be selected for the exclusive Oi Fashion Rocks event and walking for Alexandre Herchcovitch and Marc Jacobs was great," Williams said. "It was a really, really big show and gave me one of the most memorable moments in my career - meeting and sharing the event with Grace Jones, a true Jamaican icon. It was definitely something special. She is beautiful and a great inspiration! I'm truly happy that I was asked to participate in this event!"
Williams has had an impressive year capturing the attention of the industry's elite and securing her niche as one of fashion's front runners. Her commanding presence, striking features and outstanding professionalism have earned her an eclectic and extensive clientele from Italian Vogue to L'Oreal.
