Montego Bay fell under the allure of the Saint International models during the Fashion Block show where 13 local apparel designers had the opportunity to showcase their creative ingenuity through fashion.

The 'Old Hospital' site along Gloucester Avenue in the second city was transformed into a mega arena for the fashion demonstration. The feeling of being at an international fashion show took over Montego Bay, as the professional coordination of the high catwalk was like that of its international counterparts.

It was not difficult to notice how excited males kept their eyes glued onstage as the female models paced the catwalk. The female patrons were equally engrossed in the proceedings, as male models spared no effort in arousing the excitement of fans.

Passion for fashion

With Jerry D handling MC duties, it was clear that although Jamaicans love to party, they also have an avid passion for fashion. From sexy to petite to conservative and endearing, Jamaica's culture was projected through this fashion expo.

According to upcoming designer Mark Anthony, the Montego Bay leg of this fashion event was ideal in his quest to capitalise on the market of male dress shirts. "It is very hard to get nicely fitted male dress shirts locally, and my Mark Anthony clothing line seeks to address that issue while offering a fashionable twist to it," the enthusiastic designer explained.

A tailor

While he has been designing clothes for more than a year, Anthony was, in fact, a tailor but recently decided that his passion for designing could not remain untapped and, as such, he chose to capitalise on his talent and eye for fashion.

Head of the Saint International Modelling Agency, Deiwght Peters, revealed that it was his third year staging Fashion Block in Montego Bay, this being the best to date.

"In terms of overall production and quality, the designs were great. We had over 30 of our Saint models and 13 designers come out and showcase the best of their collections. It was the best," an upbeat Peters noted.
