St Georges earned their first point ever in a Digicel Premier League game at Collie Smith Drive, when they played to a 1-1 draw with Boys' Town in their rescheduled match yesterday.

The home crowd was stunned into silence when St Georges took the lead in the eighth minute through a Nigel Reid strike. A well-worked free kick was passed to Reid in the box and he was able to control unmolested, before slamming his shot past the helpless keeper.

However, the Red Brigade would net the equaliser at the 76th minute, when Dean Thompson scored.

Naturally delighted

Buoyed by their supporters, Boys' Town went on the attack for the remaining 14 minutes, but St Georges held on for the draw and remained atop the standings on 18 points.

St Georges' coach, Braxton Hyre said: "To gain our first point at Boys' Town is good. A point away from home is always good. We played today with seven players out and came away from Boys' Town with a point, it shows the depth of the team."

Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town, was most disappointed.

"We got numerous opportunities to put away the game and we didn't put it away. We gave up a very soft goal early in the game and although we completely dominated the game we didn't put away the chances," Price said.

He added: "I must still give the team some credit because after going behind early they fought back, equalised and could have won the game at the death."

Meanwhile, in yesterday's other rescheduled match, a late fixture at Spanish Town Prison Oval, Harbour View extended their dominance over Rivoli United with a 1-0 victory.

Lovel Palmer scored the winning goal at the 46th minute.

However, Harbour View played most of the second half with 10 players because Montrose Phinn was red-carded for a tackle shortly after the goal.

Harbour View leapfrogged Portmore United (12) to move to third in the standings on 15 points, one behind defending champions Tivoli Gardens, against whom they have an outstanding game.

Rivoli remained fourth from bottom on seven points, one less than Boys' Town.
