University of Technology (UTech), US Sports Academy sign cooperation agreement

The University of Technology, (UTech), 'Home of World Class Athletes', and the United States Sports Academy, 'America's Sports University,' have collaborated under a special cooperation agreement to enhance sports education in both countries through cooperative programmes in education, research and service.

The partnership also has scope for student and faculty exchanges, joint hosting of special seminars, symposia and study tours.

President of UTech, professor Errol Morrison, and president of the United States Sports Academy, Dr Thomas Rosandich, signed the agreement at the Academy in Alabama, USA on September 8.

UTech recently established the new Faculty of Science and Sport at the start of the 2009/2010 academic year, which offers degree programmes in science education and sports science.

The UTech sports programme, administered by the department of sport, has earned the enviable record as 'Home of World Class Athletes', reaping phenomenal success, particularly in track and field at the national and international levels.

Known as 'America's Sports University', the United States Sports Academy is an accredited special-mission sports-educational institution which offers programmes in education, research and service in the disciplines of sports management, sports coaching, sports medicine, sports studies and sports fitness and health, that have been delivered in more than 60 countries worldwide more than the last 35 years.
