Trinidad, Ghana discuss partnerships

Ghana (CMC):

A 13-member delegation from the Caribbean Community nation of Trinidad and Tobago on Monday, met with senior government officials of this African nation to discuss possible partnerships on energy.

The delegation from the oil-rich Caribbean nation is being led by Victoria Mendez-Charles, the republic's ambassador to Ghana, and has held talks with Deputy Energy Minister Dr Kobena Donkor. Mendez-Charles said Trinidad and Tobago is keen on sharing its vast experience in the energy sector, particularly regarding to oil and natural gas - to the benefit of the two countries.

St Lucia want Britain to reverse Turks takeover

UNITED NATIONS (CMC):

St Lucia, on Monday called on the British government to reverse its decision to take full control of the Turks and Caicos Islands, saying it was disappointed at the decision of London to sideline the demo-cratically elected government in the British Overseas Territory. The British government earlier this year announced the move followed allegations of corruption in the government of former Premier Michael Misick.

Abusive airline passenger jailed

Bermuda (CMC):

A British airline passenger whose abusive behaviour forced the captain of a Caribbean-bound jetliner to make an emergency landing in Bermuda has been jailed in the United Kingdom, the Royal Gazette reported on Monday.

It said that Grant Smith, 36, of Burnley, in Lancashire, northwest England, was among several passengers who caused trouble during the flight to the Dominican Republic. He admitted drunkenness on an aircraft and was jailed for 42 weeks by a judge at Manchester Crown Court.
