Kingston College (KC) proved to be too much for Haile Selassie in their Group B ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football fixture yesterday at the Tinson Pen football field, to emerge 4-1 winners.

KC were led to victory by Prince Samuel, who scored in the 15th and 37th minutes of the first half. He then capitalised on a defensive error by Haile Selassie in the 79th minute to toe-poke home his third goal of the match.

Prince, who scored four goals in as many games while representing Jamaica at the under-17 level, has carried over his goal- scoring form into the Manning season, as he has now scored five goals in three matches.

"It is a great feeling to have scored a hat-trick, everybody played as expected. I am aspiring to score 19 goals in this Manning Cup season," an exuberant Prince shared.

Their fourth goal was scored in the 51st minute by Arsenio Walker, who found himself with the simplest tap-in following some brilliant work down the flank by Prince.

Consolation goal

Haile Selassie's consolation goal came in the 58th minute when their diminutive forward, Keino Smith, scored from the penalty spot. Haile Salassie's Anton 'Book Mice' Hutchinson won the penalty after being fouled in the box by Shane Hardie.

Hutchinson received an injury to his lower back on the play and was rushed to hospital, but his injury was found to be not serious.

"I think we played a good team that was willing to push the ball around. As little as they were they played some big man football. My team knew that they had to win, we came here today knowing that we were behind on points," KC's coach, Wayne Fairclough, informed.

"This team has not been in the competition for three years so to get players coming from nowhere to stand up to a team like KC you have to give them credit for that," stated Paul Elliot, Haile Selassie's coach.
