Barbican and Harbour View's women's teams will today renew rivalry when they meet in the first leg semi-final of the Sherwin Williams Women's League.

The game, which will be played at 1:30 p.m. at the Barbican Sports Complex, will be the curtain-raiser to the second semi-final between Waterhouse and Portmore Strikers at 3:30 p.m.

"Harbour View and Barbican is one of the biggest women's football rivalry in the country and should provide excitement," said Barbican coach Charles Edwards,.

One shot

"I believe with Harbour View being out of the knockout and knowing that they only have one shot for silverware this season, they will come firing on all cylinders. But our players are aware and ready for the challenge," he added.

Harbour View, having been eliminated from the knockout by Santos, will be seeking to reclaim lost pride, as before the Santos defeat they were the only team to have won the knockout title in all five previous stagings.

"It should be a close encounter. We have to come out and give a good showing, having missed out on defending our trophy," said Vin Blaine, coach of Harbour View.

"Barbican have been consistent all season and, as such, we will have our work cut out for us. But I believe my girls have what it takes to pull if off," added Blaine.

"It's a two-leg contest and the plan is to approach the first leg with caution and then go all out in the second leg," he added.
