This week DJ Chungy takes on DJ Absolute in the latest elimination round of the Heineken Green Synergy regional competition to see who will represent Jamaica in St Maarten later this year.

In the most recent play-off, it was a battle of the sexes as DJ Nas took on DJ Supa O at the studios of the Public Broadcasting Company of Jamaica studios in Half-Way Tree.

DJ Nas is the only female in the competition, but by being able to advance from the first round of the competition she should not be taken lightly. DJ Supa O found that out in spades during his face-off with the diminutive, dreadlocked and outspoken disc jockey.

DJ Supa O, it seemed, was always on the back foot against Nas. He seemed uncomfortable battling her on the turntables during the mixing segment. Meanwhile, Nas seemed more at home and got the crowd energised with her selections.

Lack of genuine mixing

The Captain, Colin Hines, one of the judges, was not overly impressed by either, lamenting what he described as a lack of genuine mixing and selecting talent in this year's contest. He did, however, give the edge to DJ Nas.

In the tune for tune segment that followed, Nas was even more dominant as she confidently counteracted anything that Supa O threw at her. Before long the crowd was completely enamoured with her and the judges understood why.

Soundly defeated

Colin Hines, Left Side and Kurt Riley were all convinced that Supa O had been soundly defeated by the distaff disc jockey. They praised her confidence and presentation while chastising Supa O for failing to properly prepare for the contest.

"I was praying for it to be over because a man should not have to be beaten like that," Hines said.

Members of the public whose votes will determine who gets eliminated can vote for who they think should advance by dialling 444-9635 15 for DJ Nas or 444-9635 2 for DJ Supa O.

Voting ends today and no one under 18 is allowed to vote.
