Pulse's latest addition to its Caribbean Model Search, the full-figure competition, will take centre stage on September 6 at the Hilton Kingston hotel.
A leading fashion and modelling agency for more than 30 years, Pulse first introduced its modelling competition in 1982, followed by its male competition in 1989, its petite challenge some years later and now the full-figure segment.
This marks the first time that such a competition will be held in the Caribbean.
Pulse says it has had an overwhelming response after placing the notice for full-figure models. It says entries are still open although it has so far selected more than a dozen semi-finalists.
Pulse stated: "It is noteworthy that several of the world's top agencies have full-figure divisions and there is no reason why Jamaicans cannot achieve success in this area of the international model market."
Models selected
The full-figure models selected so far include Gianna Fakhourie, Alyssia Myrie, Janelle Guthrie, Remeisha Richards, Tka Briscoe, Janelle Nelson, Nicholle Duffus-Lindsay, Carey-Lee Dixon, Stacey-Ann Fagan, Keisha Lopez, Ashley Martin, Sade Thompson, Daina Dixon, Renae Bruce-Miller and Ayesha Haughton.
The 2009 Caribbean Model Search has attracted hundreds of new faces for all its segments combined - female, male, petite and full-figure.
The show will be choreographed by Barry Moncrieffe and walking coach Donovan Marshall has been developing the models' runway skills.
