Top four tune up for semis

Defending Sherwin Williams Women's League champions, Barbican, along with Waterhouse, Harbour View and Portmore Strikers, are all expected to use this weekend's final set of preliminary stages matches to prepare for the semi-finals of the competition, which is slated to held on September 5 and 12.

The four lie atop Zones A and B of the competition and not even defeat to their challengers can deny them a spot in the semis and ultimately a chance to claim the 2009 crown.

In the matchups, which will each begin at 4 p.m., Barbican will entertain Trelawny Women, Portmore Strikers will travel to Maverley-Hughenden and Constant Spring will host Arnett Gardens in Zone A.

Group B action will see Harbour View travelling to Brancourt to face Reno, Santos at home to Olympic Gardens at Bell Chung Oval and Meadhaven will close out away to Waterhouse.

The semi-finals will be played on a home-and-away basis.

Meanwhile, the quarter-final round of the Sherwin Williams Colourscape Knockout will be played next Wednesday, August 26.

In Thursday's final set of first-round matches, Santos defeated Olympic Gardens 1-0 at Bell Chung Oval and Trelawny Women got the better of Arnett Gardens 2-0 at the Elleston Wakeland Centre.

Barbican, Harbour View, Maverley-Hughenden, Waterhouse and Portmore Strikers are the other Knockout competition qualifiers.
