NOTE-WORTHY - Colourfully Jamaican

  • Colourfully Jamaican

We come in all different shades,

    our brightness never fades

We are the rainbow of the world,

a basket full of talents and resilience

Standing tall with grace and integrity,

we carry ourselves with pride and dignity

    We are unapologetically Jamaicans,

our flamboyant flame lights the still sky!

  • Kudos to Usain's coach

Once again, I am stunned by young Usain Bolt. His coach, in my mind, has received too little credit. It's true the coach had good material with which to work, but he knows Usain, he knows how hard to push and when to let up. Whatever he did, he made it work.

Now, because of his efforts in bringing out the best in this young man, we all as Jamaicans have a valid reason to celebrate. Coach, you have a lot to offer the coaching world. Keep doing what you have been doing, you do it better than any coach around.

  • Brigitte's story of perseverance

Highest commendations are in order for Brigitte Foster-Hylton on her World Championship success.

Hers has been a story of perseverance and preparation, and being at the right place with the right disposition to seize opportunity the moment it is presented.

With the right disregard for the predictions of pundits, and times recorded by favourites in the preliminaries, Foster-Hylton was where she needed to be, equipped as she needed to be.

When she opened her eyes, she had made history for Jamaica and realised her dream - at 34 years of age - competing at the highest level.
