When Waterhouse captured the inaugural KSAFA/Claro pre-season Champions League title Tuesday night, one man who was noticeably involved in the celebrations on the field was club president, businessman Ricardo 'Ricky' Chin.

Contracted by the club in June, Chin could be seen hugging and shaking the hands of the players, officials, fans and new coach Geoffery Maxwell, as thanks to a fifth minute goal from forward, Jermaine Anderson, Waterhouse were able to carve out a 1-0 win over city rivals Tivoli Gardens at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

It was the first available title for both Chin, and Maxwell, who took over the coaching job from Paul Young about a month ago, and according to them they are satisfied with the progress of the team thus far.

For Chin, who is a renowned entertainment business operator and consultant, the victory was a signal that they can do well in this season's Digicel Premier League, and better their sixth place finish last season. As it relates to Maxwell, it represents progress the club's new administration has made thus far.

A motivating factor

"It's good to see what we have so far - a motivating factor. There's more work to be done and we will be working assiduously to get things right. We want to replicate this achievement throughout the season," said Chin.

"I am happy for the club. The management staff has a clear vision and to be able to deliver a trophy in such a short time is good for us going forward," said Maxwell, whose charges went unbeaten throughout the eight-team competition.

Meanwhile, Tivoli's coach, Lenworth Hyde Sr, said he would have liked to start the season by winning a title, but noted he was still satisfied with his team's performance throughout the competition.

"I am pleased with the performance in the match and throughout the tournament. Every time one reaches a final, he or she wants to win but unfortunately today wasn't our day," Hyde said.

"But it was a good warm-up tournament as we were able to look at a number of players and we look forward to defending our Premier League title," he added.

The Champions League, which replaced the President's Cup, saw KSAFA's top five premier league teams, as well as its Super, Major and Syd-Barlett league champions.
