West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) director, Paul Campbell, says star players Christopher Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Jerome Taylor and others who have been excluded from the West Indies' ICC Champions Trophy 15-member squad will be eligible for selection for the team's next international series.

In an interview with The Gleaner yesterday, Campbell, who is also president of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), said the players would be eligible for selection as long as they made themselves available for the regional domestic one-day competition, which is slated to begin in late October, at a venue to be announced.

"All players are expected to make themselves available for the regional one-day tournament, and as such, would be in contention for a place on the team for the tour of Australia," said Campbell, who is one of two Jamaicans who sit on the board.

The other is first vice-president Dave Cameron. Each of the the six territorial countries is entitled to two members on the board.

Earlier decision

The WICB, which is engaged in a contract dispute with the West Indies Players' Association, decided to stick with its earlier decision of using only the players who hadmade themselves available for the first half of the recently concluded Bangladesh Test and One-day International series.

These players, according to the board, were loyal to West Indies cricket when senior players had made themselves unavailable and thought that it was prudent to reward them further.
