Gang violence in the communities has left more than five persons dead and several others nursing gunshot wounds in the past two weeks.
Following intensive investigations the police say they have identified eight alleged gangsters, some only by their aliases, who are wanted for questioning.
"We are appealing to the men to turn themselves in to the police and to residents to provide us with information on these men by calling the secure Operation Kingfish line 8-1-1," said Karl Angel, director of communication with the police force.
According to Angel, this is part of the strategy by the police to put a lid on the blood letting in the communities of Newlands, Southboro, Naggo Head, Portmore Lane and Cumberland.
The eight persons of interest identified by the police are:
1) Luke Young
2) 'Ricky Trooper' (Not the sound system selector)
3) Patrick Morris otherwise called 'Max'
4) Rasania Alexander otherwise called 'Dutty'
5) 'Tafari'
6) 'Dudu'
7) 'Parrie'
8) Devon Williams otherwise called 'Dego'
The police have not released photographs of the men because they might be required to face identification parades.
