MY DOWNTIME WITH ...Kamesha Turner - Miss Jamaica Festival Queen 2009

Published: Sunday | July 26, 2009

On Saturday, July 19, 23-year-old teacher and CARICOM Youth Ambassador, Kamesha Turner, was crowned the 2009 Miss Jamaica Festival Queen. Turner is the second person from the parish of St Ann to ever win the crown.

The competition, organised by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, was held under the theme 'Jamaican Woman, Our National Treasure'.

We asked the queen how she spends her downtime.

What book are you currently reading?

I am actually reading three - John C. Maxwell's Let Today Count, Robert Lalah's Roving with Lalah - Slices of Everyday Jamaican Life and Tony Martin's African Fundamentalism - A collection of articles by Marcus Garvey.

Which CD are you listening to this week?

I am not really a big music fan.

Where was the last interesting place you visited?

Mile End Basic School (in the hills of St Ann). Even though I am from St Ann, I had never been to that part of the parish before.
