Five men who the police believe are linked to threats against their membership are being sought by the authorities for questioning. According to the lawmen, a number of its personnel have been receiving death threats since the fatal shooting of Jones Town strongman, Joseph Barrett.

Barrett, popularly known as 'Joe Benbow', and leader of the Joe Benbow gang, was killed by police two Thursdays ago on the Port Royal main road in Kingston during a gun battle. Tafari Murray, also known as 'Teeto', was also shot and killed during the incident. Two semi-automatic pistols were recovered from the scene.

The police say since the incident, cronies of the men have been making threats on the lives of policemen and their families.

The five men of interest are Marlando Barnett, also known as 'Pastor', Craig Hall, and men only known as Sprat, Dujon and Dean.

Being resolute

"Police personnel have been sensitised to be resolute and to protect themselves and families," the Jamaica Constabulary Force said in a release yesterday.

The police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the men wanted for questioning to call 119, Operation Kingfish at 811 or Crime Stop and 311.

Benbow was linked to a number of notorious incidents, including the murder of three family members at a house on Elgin Road on August 14 last year. It is said after the incident, he apologised to the family of the victims as he had killed the wrong people.
