OPM launches new website

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has launched its own website, Jamaica House announced this week, saying it was part of a communications outreach strategy.

"Coming one year after the launching of the prime minister's radio programme, 'Jamaica House Live', the new website delivers frequent updates on the activities and statements of the PM, as well as State projects that are specific to the OPM," said the release.

The radio programme airs live and is hosted by Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who fields questions from callers.

The site, www.opm.gov.jm, will feature texts of Golding's major speeches, a gallery of state and official photographs, policy and programme papers, and events in which the PM participates.

It is designed, his office said, as "a useful research tool for students, the public and journalists". It features the work of departments and projects within the OPM, as well as general information on Jamaica's national symbols.

Permanent Secretary Patricia Sinclair McCalla said the site would help "demystify" the work that goes on at the OPM.
