Allen heads Caribconsumer council
Dolsie Allen has been elected president of the Caribbean Consumer Council, an advocacy group for consumer protection.
Allen, who is chief executive officer of Jamaica's Consumer Affairs Com-mission, was elected at the second biennial meneral meeting of the CCC on June 22 in Antigua, replacing Philip McLauren of St Lucia.
"I am excited about this opportunity to serve as head of this advocacy body and look forward to working with other members of the executive as together we seek to strengthen the various consumer protection organisations in the region and lobby for changes that will redound to the benefit of consumers," said the new CCC president whose term runs for two years.
"We have been vested with the responsibility to advocate, influence, protect, defend and harmonise our efforts to the benefit of all Caribbean peoples."
Also elected to the executive were McLauren as first vice-president and immediate past-president; Andrew Antoine of St Lucia, as second VP; Hubert James of St Lucia as treasurer; Hildred Simpson of Antigua and Barbuda as secretary; Malcolm Gibbs-Taitt of Barbados, public relations officer; Howard Richardson of St Kitts and Nevis, as assistant to the secretary and treasurer.
All officers will serve for a two-year term according to the constitution of the CCC.
