LONDON, England (CMC):

Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt has confirmed his participation in the sprint relay at the Aviva London Grand Prix later this month.

The double Olympic champion and world record holder, who was already scheduled to do battle in the 100 metres, will now line up in the 4x100 metres relay at the Crystal Palace meeting which is set to run off July 24-25.

His outing in the two events will come just weeks before he takes aim at the coveted World Championship sprint titles in Berlin.

Ideal tune up

"The Aviva London Grand Prix is an important part of my preparation for the IAAF World Championships in Berlin. To be racing at Crystal Palace in two different events over the two days will be the ideal tune-up for me ahead of Berlin," Bolt said.

"My performance at last weekend's Jamaican National Championships where I won the sprint double and ran a world-leading time in the 100 metres, was very pleasing, so I hope I can take that form into both events in London."

In the build-up to his heroics at the Beijing Olympics in August last year, Bolt clinched the 200 metres at the London Grand Prix in a time of 19.76.

He did not compete in the 100 metres which was captured by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell.

The Aviva London Grand Prix is Britain's major athletics showpiece and is expected to attract several big names when it runs off.
