CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC):

Another showdown between the West Indies players and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) seems to be brewing.

Media reports indicate that the players failed to show at the official ticket launch for the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup on Saturday.

The visiting Indian squad attended the event at the indoor facility of the Beausejour Cricket Ground, but only members of the West Indies management team attended.

No reason has been given for the absence of the players, and the WICB did not make any statements on the issue.

Reports revealed that Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, joined WICB President Julian Hunte in unveiling the tournament logo.

India won the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup two years ago in South Africa. they were knocked out of this year's competition at the Super Eight stage, as arch-rivals Pakistan advanced to beat Sri Lanka and take the title.

Earlier this year, the West Indies players boycotted a cocktail reception in Guyana ahead of the One-day International series against England, and wore black armbands in protest of outstanding issues with the WICB.
