Don't blame Portia

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE PRESIDENT of the People's National Party is not the reason for the four recent defeats the party has suffered. The individuals who were elected to represent those areas were certainly not performing when given the chance to represent the people.

The people of Jamaica are certainly looking for performance from their representatives and not promises only. When members of parliament (MPs) carry out their duties they will be asked to represent the people again, but if they fail time after time, they will lose that position. MPs must serve the people well in order to win their confidence.

Need working mps

The Jamaican people want to dwell in communities with decent roads and beautiful trees. They want to see their MPs more often, not only when there is an election in the air. They need their voices to be heard too. If the PNP should win the next election, they need to act now and serve the people as best as they can.

Portia Simpson Miller as party leader should select individuals who are willing to serve without fear. She is not God, but she must present herself as a servant of God to lead this country to the place it should be - one of peace and love.

I am, etc.,
