HAVANA, CUBA (CMC):

Cuba says four patients recently treated for H1N1 influenza have been discharged from hospital.

The daily Granma newspaper reported on Monday that the 14-month baby from Toronto, Canada, reported as the fourth case, was released from hospital.

Cuba's Public Health Ministry also said that persons who had come into contact with the toddler were also treated and discharged, as well as three Mexican students.

Official statistics show that 44 countries have confirmed H1N1 cases.

As a precautionary measure, Cuba's Civil Defense remains on alert for the deadly flu virus.
