Hats off to Professor Morrison

Professor Errol Morrison

The Editor, Sir:

I read with interest the proposal put forward by the President of the University of Technology, Professor Errol Morrison, in regards to the leasing of the Trelawny Stadium by the University for the operation of a western campus.

This is an excellent proposal and Professor Morrison must be commended. Professor Morrison is certainly a man of vision and a man on a mission. When the stadium was built I was concerned as to what would happen in regards to its use after the Cricket World Cup, bearing in mind that millions of dollars were spent for its construction. I was further taken aback when I read in the newspaper the amount of money it cost per month for the maintenance of this facility.

The Government should, therefore, embrace this proposal put forward by Professor Morrison in ensuring that UTech gets an opportunity to fulfil its objectives.

Good news

The fact that organisations such as the churches, schools, clubs and the hotel world still have access to the use of the grounds is good news.

Think of the amount of employment opportunities this move would provide. Hats off to Professor Morrison, good thinking.

I am, etc.,
