Twenty-one year old Stephen Fray was positively identified yesterday as the man involved in the attempted hijacking of CanJet Flight 918 at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay on Sunday night.

Confirmation that Fray was the man who had brandished a gun and forced his way aboard the Canadian aircraft, which was parked on the airport's tarmac, was made by some six persons who pointed him out to investigators at the Montego Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay on Friday.

The accused, who has been in lock-up since Monday morning, was represented by Martin Thomas, one of his attorneys.

Later this morning he is scheduled to undergo intensive interrogation by the police, The Gleaner has been told.

Fray, a resident of Albion, St James, made headlines across the world this week after he held more than 160 passengers and crew hostage at Sangster International Airport in the attempted hijacking of the CanJet charter flight, which was scheduled to depart for Halifax, Canada, via Cuba.

After a nine-hour stand-off, Fray was apprehended and his hostages rescued without injury as a joint police-military team stormed the plane.
