Boys' Town continued their impressive run in the Digicel Premier League yesterday with a 2-1 win over St Georges at Collie Smith Drive.

The Red Brigade moved to 46 points, third behind joint leaders Harbour View United and Portmore United, who were locked on 50 points ahead of their late fixtures yesterday.

St Georges led but ran out of steam early in the first half.

Brian Wollaston had the first opportunity as he dribbled across the face of the goal, but goalkeeper Philmore Crumbie dived and averted the danger.

This attempt seemingly energised Boys' Town as Xavian Virgo attempted to put his team into the lead with a free kick. However, goalkeeper Anthoniel Williams made the save.

Failed to score

Andre Wheeler, Carlos Wright and captain Michael Campbell continued to lead the charge for Boys' Town but on all occasions they failed to score.

However, Boys' Town moved in for the kill in the second half with a free kick from Oneil McDonald, but Williams was quick and blocked his attempt.

They were quick to rally and took the lead in the 55th minute through Campbell. Keyes fed him a pass in the six-yard box and Campbell, who initially lost possession, fought and regained control then fired home a quick shot to score.

Daniel Shaw attempted two free kicks thereafter for St Georges, but Crumbie responded well to block his attempts.

Robert Scott, who came on in the 78th minute, attacked with vengeance as in less than a minute of running on to the field, he doubled Boys' Town's lead in the 79th minute.

Shaw's attempts finally hit home, as he scored a soft goal for St Georges in the 88th minute.

Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town stated that he was confident they would have scored.

"I wasn't worried in the first half because we were getting a lot of opportunities and not scoring," Price said.

"I knew once we got aggressive inside the box we would get the goals. In the second half the captain took the game and led from the front and scored a wonderful goal," he said.

Geoffrey Maxwell, coach of St Georges stated that losing six of their first choice players, including two strikers, three defenders and one midfielder, resulted in their demise.

"We are not going to knock the reserves but losing six of our first choice players affected the team," said Maxwell, whose team remained fifth on 37 points.

"I thought today we only played in the last 15-20 minutes of the second half. We just woke up and realised we were into a game and then we got a very lucky goal," he added.
