BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

The Jamaica-bred colt El Paso City is one of two overseas entries listed for the rich Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup next month at the Garrison Savannah turf track.

The Trinidad and Tobago-based El Paso City and US entry Unbridled Behaviour are among the 12 entries announced by the Barbados Turf Club (BTC) for the Barbados $223,500 (US$111,750) event on March 7.

Of the three Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) entries nominated last month, El Paso City is the only one remaining for the prestigious 1800-metre run, after Funky Likeah Train and Just in Time withdrew. Just in Time has been switched to target the Tanglewood Stakes, the secondary feature on Gold Cup day.

The four-year-old colt El Paso City, bred in Jamaica - Vanadium out of City Lights - by Ruth Hussey, has won four of his last five starts at T&T's Santa Rosa Park. His winning streak was snapped in the Caribbean Turf Championship two Saturdays ago when he finished runner-up to Funky Likeah Train.
