Come on MoBay, get with it!

The Editor, Sir:

Montego Bay has always been one of my favourite cities, and still is. I find it a vibrant, throbbing metropolis (the locals would substitute the word congested). Be that as it may, my recent visit to the Jazz Festival only served to rekindle the flame.

All major cities, however, require reserved green areas, and therein lies the blotch on MoBay's landscape - none has been preserved. However, there exists the ideal location for one such, which runs along the coastline from the roundabout at the end of the Howard Cooke highway, all the way to the Pelican Restaurant.

My appeal to Mayor Sinclair is to enlist the joint support of the private and tourism sector to recreate there another "Emancipation Park" (different name, of course) with appropriate gardens, lawns, walkways and a bandstand for the benefit of locals and visitors alike.

Come on MoBay get with it! Ocho Rios, with its Turtle River Park, is miles ahead of you.

I am, etc.,
