Poor water supply
published: Sunday | November 30, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

For the second time in as many weeks, the public water supply in Hart Hill, Portland, was disrupted yet again. When the water went this time, there was no rain, so it was not a situation of high turbidity sometimes associated with the service. One assumes it might have been a breakdown somewhere in the system. Over four days have now passed and still the supply has not returned.

Frequent disruptions to the water supply are not isolated incidents; in the past weeks, the service has been sporadic at best. True to form, however, the National Water Commission has offered no explanations or apologies, as it has done on numerous occasions before.

I am, etc.,

BASIL STEWART
