Trying to lose weight is frustrating
Dear Ms Brown,
Many thanks for printing and responding to my mail. I will make every effort to follow your instructions and I will let you know if it works. Keep up the good work.
Regarding the matter of my current diet, I would say that when I am trying to lose weight I would eat mainly soups and drink water instead of eating rice and drinks.
I also eat more fruits when I am trying to lose weight but the pains, which I spoke about before, would start. My eating time is also irregular, but now I will try to do as you say and also get some exercise. Thanks again. Love and peace.

Dear Ms Brown,
I was almost moved to tears by the letter from the reader because I have been trying to lose weight for the longest while. Your three points are very relevant. I will share some successes that I have had with changing my diet, but this has been extremely difficult.
I find that I love grapefruits and soups. Well, I eat a grapefruit in the mornings with a serving of porridge. For lunch, I have any one of the proteins that I like along with steamed vegetables and potato or yam. I don't have rice. For dinner, I have soup and might treat myself to some bran biscuits. I have lost the one pound in a week as you suggest but I just wish I could lose more.
You know, I see where in the United States there is a weight-watchers' programme and I wish there were something like that here in Jamaica. What about these eat-all-you-want meal packages? If only I could have a Jamaican version of that.
Anyway, your article was comforting. Thanks.
