Pork stew

Pork stew is on offer on butcher stalls as well as in meat shops both rural and urban as well as supermarkets over the island.

If you are shopping for pork stew in rural meat shops, the asking price for a pound (454.55g) of the meat will be $140. That same price will be quoted in downtown Kingston's less costly meat outlets.

Supermarkets in both Kingston and the rural areas will ask as much as $250 for a pound of pork stew this week.

Cooking tomatoes

Cooking tomatoes have decreased in price this week in a number of retail markets across the island.

Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market is this week asking $100 for a pound (454.55g), compared to $250 a fortnight ago. The price is the same in a number of rural retail markets.

Downtown Kingston's less costly outlets will ask $100/$120 for a pound of cooking tomatoes this week.

Callaloo

If you are shopping for callaloo in mid-island capitals like May Pen and Spanish Town, the asking price for a bundle will be $50.

That same price will apply to lower priced downtown Kingston retail markets.

Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market will ask $60 this week for a bundle of callaloo.

Sweet yam

Sweet yam is appearing in fair quantities in a number of retail markets, rural as well as urban, at this time.

Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market will quote $100 for a pound (454.55g) at this time, while most rural retail markets will ask $80 for that same quantity.

Downtown Kingston's less expensive selling locations will ask $80 for a pound of sweet yam this week.

Sweet potato

Sweet potato is on good offer at this time in most retail markets and vegetable shops.

Most rural retail markets are asking $40/$50 for a pound (454.55g) of sweet potatoes at this time, and so are downtown Kingston's less expensive selling locations.

Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market is this week quoting $50 for a pound.

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is fairly easy to come by this week in most retail markets over the island.

In capitals like May Pen and Spanish Town, the asking price will be $40/$50 per pound (454.55g). These same prices will be quoted in most rural retail markets as well as downtown Kingston's less costly selling locations.

Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market will this week ask $40-50 for a pound of pumpkin.

Christmas specials

Green unshelled gungo is now selling at prices starting at $180 (Coronation Market, $170 in Charles Gordon Market. Sorrel can be had at prices ranging from $80 in Mandeville and May Pen markets and up to $120 per pound in Charles Gordon and Constant Spring Markets.
