NCB Foundation fêtes students

Tertiary scholarship recipients of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) Foundation were treated to lunch and entertainment at the foundation's 'We Believe In You' luncheon, held recently at the Hilton Kingston hotel.

Among those attending were the foundation's 14 parish awardees and students who received scholarships from the We Believe In You fund. Most of these students, despite hardships, displayed a sense of commitment, not only to personal growth, but to becoming agents of change in their schools and communities.

NCB Chairman, Michael Lee Chin, charged the students saying "Be bold, don't put anything beyond yourself. If you do so, you will not achieve anything." He also encouraged them to develop an attitude of passing the baton of opportunity to others so as to create a better Jamaica.

Patrick Hylton, group managing director of NCB Jamaica Ltd, also left the recipients with much to ponder as he shared his own story and how he refused to make a negative perception determine his reality.

No limitations

"Very often there are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge." He challenged them to find new ways and strategies to improve themselves, no matter how accomplished they might think they are. He also pledged the foundation's commitment to assist the process.

The gathering was entertained by the Carifolk singers and former Rising Stars contestant, K'alee, while enjoying a scrumptious feast.
