The beautifully decorated room bore no resemblance to a classroom, but then the smartly-dressed Mona School of Business staff, academics and captains of industry were not assembled for study.
They were at the Hilton Kingston hotel to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the school; an institution that according to University of the West Indies (UWI) principal, Professor Gordon Shirley, has been charged with "developing a new generation of entrepreneurial executives capable of leading organisations through turbulent times and equipping them with advanced skills".
But it was the awardees, including Governor General Sir Kenneth Hall, who were the stars of the night. Sir Kenneth, who chaired the MSB board for 10 years and is a former principal of UWI, Mona, lauded the school for "providing 21 years of leadership in management education at the UWI and the region at large".
