LIKE OUR athletes who stunned the world at the Beijing Olympics, Jamaica's circuit racing drivers are hoping to keep the national flag flying aloft, when they take on the best of the region in the third and final leg of the Caribbean Circuit Racing Championship today, at the South Dakota race track in Guyana.

"We are hoping to take back the gold." Those were the words of Doug Gore, when he last spoke with Automotives.

Jamaica and Gore were the winners at the last year's championship, which concluded in Guyana.

Standings

Up to the end of the second leg, which was held in Barbados four months ago, Jamaica was in second place, while David Summerbell occupied third place behind the two Bajans, Steve and Mark Maloney.

The other members of the Jamaican team are Guy Fraser of Team MoBay and Chris Campbell.

Spot Valley rally

In the meantime, the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) will be staging Sprint number six to be held at Spot Valley Raceway on Sunday, November 9.

Sprint number six is the final event for the JMMC 2008 Kirdex/Jamaica Beverages National Sprint Championship. It is also the final event before the JMMC premier year-end event, Rally Jamaica 2008.

Go-kart grand finale

The curtain will come down on the 2008 go-kart season, with the grand finale race meet scheduled for Sunday, November 16, at the Palisadoes International Raceway, Kingston.
