CHAMPIONS MELBOURNE and St Catherine CC advanced to the quarter-final round of the JCA Limited Overs competition after registering comfortable wins over Boys' Town and Kingston yesterday.
In what was the penultimate round of the first stage of the competition, Melbourne were piloted to victory on a fine bowling performance from Yannick Elliot who, bowling his off spin, claimed 4-37 to restrict Boys' Town to 97.
Led by Dwayne Thompson's 39 runs, the men from Courtney Walsh Drive cruised to their fourth successive win at 98-3.
In the St Catherine CC-Kingston match-up at Sabina Park, Kingston were shot out for 94 with off-spinner Bevon Brown claiming 4-11. St Catherine CC, the national two-day champions, then waltzed to their total for the loss of three wickets. The in-form Junior Stewart, who has already chalked up a century and half-century, made 58.
St Ann, St Elizabeth remain unbeaten
Meanwhile, St Elizabeth and St Ann preserved their unbeaten records following victories over St James and G.C. Foster, respectively.
