PAJ forms chapter in central Jamaica
published: Sunday | August 24, 2008

Media workers in central Jamaica have started a chapter of the Press Association of Jamaica.

The workers, who met at the Mandeville Hotel on August 19, have selected a steering committee to see them through to the launch some time later in the year.

Glendon Baker, publisher of The Clarion, is chairman of the steering committee and his vice-chair is Rona McKoy of Alkay Productions.

Meeting plans

Orville Morgan of Northern Caribbean University is secretary, and his assistant is Elliott Blake of The Jamaica Observer. Treasurer of the newly formed group is Alesia White of PACE TV, and her assistant is Wendy Freckleton of the Mandeville Weekly.

Milton Williams of the South Coast News has responsibility for public relations and Angelo Laurence of PACE TV and The Gleaner is the sergeant at arms.

The chapter, which includes media workers from St Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon, will meet at the Mandeville Hotel every first and third Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m.
