Daniel Shaw will ply his trade in the National Premier League (NPL) once more. The talented midfielder, whose club, August Town, was relegated from the league last season, will join the ranks of St Georges Sports Club.

"It is confirmed, we will have Shaw for the new season," said Geoffrey Maxwell, coach of St Georges. "In fact, he has been training with us and judging by his playing standards we expect him to be an excellent addition.

"In fact, if you were to ask me, he has the credentials to be a national player," he added gleefully.

Shaw, 30, began his NPL career at Harbour View before moving on to represent Arnett Gardens. He then left Arnett Gardens midway through the 2007 season and went on to join his youth club, August Town where he led from the front, helping them to avoid the drop in their first season - 2007-08.

Not fortunate last season

He was, however, not as fortunate last season, as despite copping the leading goalscorer award, August Town were relegated, along with Seba United.

This left the door open for the former Trench Town High student to seek another club, a move which August Town president, Kenneth Wilson, says is understandable.

"The manager of the club informed me some time ago that this (transfer) is so," said Wilson. "When a club gets demoted these things are likely to happen. I totally understand," he added.

The acquisition of Shaw represents St Georges' first major signing this season. They are also seeking to sign Harbour View's national central defender, Jermaine Taylor, who has expressed a desire to leave the Stars of the East.
