Straight-firing Ziadie cops shotgun championship

Ziadie

Master class shooter Errol Ziadie won the Jamaica Skeet Club's All Jamaica Shotgun Cham-pionship on Sunday at Sligoville.

Ziadie beat his son and defending champion Geoffrey by one target, hitting 347 out of a possible 400. Veteran Khaleel Azan (338) was third, and former champion Ian Banks finished fourth.

The tournament took place over four days (July 6, 13, 26 and 27) in three shooting disciplines and started with the Five Stand event which was won by Ian Banks (92). Bobby Chung (91) finished second.

In the A Class of the Five Stand, Geoffrey Ziadie (90) was first followed by Errol Ziadie (89) and Khaleel Azan.

Next was the FITASC category won by Geoffrey Ziadie (93) with Robert Yap (91) a close second.

Errol Ziadie (88) was first in the A Class and Bruce DuQuesnay (88) and Ian Banks (86) second and third, respectively.

The sporting clays event on the weekend was won by Joey Chin (172), with Errol Ziadie two shots behind. Brett Thwaites won the Sporting Clays A Class (169) followed by Khaleel Azan and Christian Sasso, who both hit 168.

Joanna Banks (122) won the women's section, while Richard Azan Jr (153) and Nicholas Hudson (129) were first and second, respectively, in the Junior section.

In the Sub-Junior, Chad Ziadie won with 119 hits and Adam Ziadie (104) was second.

The All Jamaica Junior Champion was Richard Azan Jr (307), while Chad Ziadie (237) took home the sub-junior title.
