Tommy Cowan today

Claim to fame: Arguably reggae's most successful impressario. Has excelledas performer, producer, master of ceremonies.

Trademark: Stage intro, 'Yes, indeed!'

Facts: Member of The Jamaicans, vocal group that won the 1967 Festival Song Contest with Ba Ba Boom. Also had hit song with Things You Say You Love.

Produced several reggae acts during the 1970s including a then little-known trio called Israel Vibration. Cowan produced their best known song, The Same Song and the album of the same name.

Founded Talent Corporation in 1975. Has managed singers Dennis Brown, John Holt and Junior Tucker, among others.

Was MC for the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston in 1978. Did similar duties for Bob Marley's Zimbabwe Independence Day Concert in 1980.

A born-again Christian, Tommy Cowan operates Glory Music and founded the Fun In The Son concert series.
